ABOUT TOWN - VENUE

Streetfood Warehouse is thrilled to be involved in the launch of the brand new Venue Whitchurch, located on Whitchurch Road; this bar and restaurant has everything you could want for a night out!

We are collaborating with Venue to supply an array of incredible traders. A new trader will be ready to impress your tastebuds every month!

At Streetfood Warehouse we had the pleasure of attending the launch night; what an incredible evening! One we would recommend! The night involved live music with a saxophone and a bongo player walking around serenading the guests and a DJ playing everyone’s favourite classics. Located upstairs is a cocktail bar with a vast array of cocktails, we tried ‘the Bramble’ cocktail, and it was delicious!

As you come downstairs with your drink, you have a selection of things to do. The team battled it out in a classic game of pool, we lost, but it was still a blast! Once we felt peckish we got to try Le Four a Bois.

Le Four a Bois

Who better to kickstart the launch than a pizza trader! Stephan kept us well supplied with his freshly made pizza’s, I had to try the classic Margarita, and you could taste how fresh it was. The bonus is that it was made in a brand new pizza oven, designed for traders to drool over. I could have easily ordered another pizza just for myself!

Next to come- Bao Selecta

The next trader to start is Bao Selecta, launching today 6th October! With their moreish bao buns, this is the perfect complement to a cocktail night. We will be sure to head back to give them a try, along with another cocktail or two! Check out Venue's Instagram to keep updated with trader announcements.

If you would like the opportunity to trade at Venue we still have some availability but make sure to apply soon as spots are going fast!

A SUMMER OF ADVENTURE CINEMA - FAREWELL TO FILM & FOOD FESTIVAL 2021

Here at Street Food Warehouse, we were lucky enough to work with Adventure Cinema. providing an amazing opportunity for our traders to take part and have a good time! Outdoor cinemas are great for date nights and mate dates and the perfect chance to relax while watching classic films and eating delicious food. Who doesn’t love good food and a movie? It’s just the best combination!

Adventure Cinema had a range of Film and Food Festivals around the UK, and here are the locations you may have seen us at:

Cardiff, Newcastle, Leicester, Swansea, Nottingham, North London, Huddersfield, Bristol, Liverpool, Bournemouth, South London, Leeds, Wolverhampton and Manchester.

Film & Food Festival, Cardiff

Kicking off with a bang in Bute Park, Cardiff, SFW were eager to get our traders out there and ready to serve hungry customers. Bringing the likes of Handmade Pizza co, Battered Shack and Ringo’s Dirty Diner, the event was a massive success and we were left excited for the rest of the events.

Film & Food Festivals - North London, South London and Manchester

The film and food festivals in both North and South London were a big hit with the public, with appearances from Smok’n Greek BBQ with their gorgeous Souvlaki Wraps, T's Fried Scoop serving delicious deep-fried ice cream, The Gnarbecue bringing their unreal vegan burgers and Lil Watan and their yummy falafel.

Closing at Manchester, Heaton Park, we were sad to say goodbye to the Film and Food Festival series, but were determined to go out on a high! With street food traders such as Kells Kitchen and Super Bao serving their best dishes, definitely managed that.

My time at Film & Food Festival Bristol - Ellie, Marketing and Events Intern

I attended the Film & Food Festival in Bristol and was extremely impressed with how the event went and how the traders did. On the day of the event, the weather wasn’t on our side, but this didn’t stop our traders from serving their delicious food. I took the time to talk to each trader, introducing myself, as I work in the office for Street Food Warehouse. It was lovely to see the behind the scenes work put into action and lots of happy customers throughout the night.

Two traders which really stood out to me were 2 Lads Kitchen and Rue De La Cocotte. Producing their outstanding Afgan wraps, they were one of the tastiest wraps I have ever eaten. Rue De La Cocotte bringing french cuisine to life with their mouthwatering tartiflette, it is definitely to die for! Both traders were such a pleasure to speak to and made me feel very welcome. Overall, my evening at the Film & Food Festival Bristol was a blast and it was such a joy to see so many people having a good time and the traders doing well.

We are so grateful and happy to have been a part of the Adventure Cinema journey and can’t wait for more adventures that lie ahead for the future (pardon the pun).

Testimonials

"We loved trading with Adventure cinema! Easy load-in with clear communication, professional set up, nice hungry customers & an on-site team that was a pleasure to work with" - The Gnarbecue, London Based Street Food Trader

“We worked on a couple of adventure cinema series of events this summer. The impression I get via phone conversations and via email is that you're a nice bunch of people. All working hard to make stuff happen. I've only really met Tudor in person, swell guy really, and good banter. We certainly look forward to working with him in the near future if there are events we can help with.”

“From the Adventure Cinema experience, it was good enough, it delivered what it said it would. We would happily work on these events again.” - Mr Pig Stuff,  London Based Street Food Trader

“It was a first time for us to partner up with AC & SFW we absolutely loved every minute of it! The atmosphere was great every day, organisers and the team were extremely helpful, fun and kind. SFW team was very understanding with some of the issues we had before the event and helped us out by allowing us to arrive late to the party! My only regret would be that I only got involved at the final straight of the AC run and not earlier. Overall, I feel the event went very well with many happy customers, sales were great overall (I kind of wish I knew how busy it gets beforehand we would have prepped double as much). The ratio of tickets sold and how busy we were was very good and in relation to pitch fee and all other costs it was I feel a very fair deal. We would love to be involved more with the SFW and AC in the future seasons.” - The Dog House, Good Food Group, South East Based Street Food Trader

REFLECTION ON OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH TOUGH MUDDER

As we near the end of our 2021 event season here at Street Food Warehouse, we wanted to reflect on our time in partnership with Tough Mudder. What a blast have these events been! We knew that Tough Mudder was going to be a great hit with the traders and couldn’t wait to get started bringing the best street food to the events.

Photo: Tough Mudder

Sharing the qualities of the Tough Mudder races which are teamwork and ambition, we knew that we were the right people for the job. As a company, we wanted to portray Tough Mudder’s values through our street food traders and provide the best reward for the runners when they cross the finish line, which of course is delicious street food.

Meet some of the traders

The best street food traders across the country came to serve the hard-working runners. In spite of the darkness of COVID-19, there have been so many amazing traders who took the opportunity to trade at Tough Mudder and reignite their passion for food.

Bare Bones Pizza

Based in Birmingham, Bare Bones Pizza has been trading with us at our legendary Swansea Street Food Festival. Attending both Spartan Midlands and Tough Mudder Midlands, Mike and his team hit it out of the park with their mouth-watering pizzas and who doesn’t love a good pizza, am I right? If you missed them at those events, see them at Tough Mudder London South and Spartan South-East because you definitely don’t want to miss out!

Gourmet Griddle

The face of Gourmet Griddle, James brought his unreal wraps to the table at Tough Mudder London West, South West and Finsbury Park and they went down a treat with runners! James maintains “people like to eat food that they don’t eat at home” which is where the focal point for his cuisine and duck wrap centrepiece came from! Based on the classic hoising duck Chinese takeaway, he created these divine duck wraps that are seriously to die for and you just can’t get enough of them!

Coffee on the Green

Coffee is always a go-to morning, afternoon or evening and it is even better when it’s coming from Coffee on the Green! The owner of this delicious coffee is the lovely Vicky. She is such a warm and welcoming lady who doesn’t fail to put a smile on your face and Street Food Warehouse have found her a pleasure to work with. Attending 3 Tough Mudder events already, Coffee on the Green hits that coffee craving spot with reasonable prices.

We have loved working with Tough Mudder at their amazing events and cannot wait for the 2022 season!

TOUGH MUDDER X STREET FOOD WAREHOUSE

Summer is coming, optimism is in the air, restrictions are easing and events are back in the calendar. We are thrilled to announce the latest partnership under our belt... Tough Mudder!

Tough Mudder

Tough Mudder is back with a bang for 2021... and have called on Street Food Warehouse to provide banging grub for their hungry team of runners. Tough Mudder races are built on the foundation of teamwork and ambitious groups of pals work together to confront world class obstacles across distances ranging from 5k to full on endurance tests that go on through the night! These demanding mud runs definitely warrant some tasty food.

If that wasn’t tough enough, they then introduced Spartan, a series of tougher, endurance based races with more challenging obstacles designed to push the competitor and encourage them to find their inner Spartan. The founder noticed that in a society, we frankly needed more challenges to push the body and mind that could be translated into real life. Spartan was created to form a community, eat well, train hard and never stop learning. Did they say eat well? Spartan’s remind themselves, “you only get one mind and body, don’t pollute it.” Spartan nutrition is about whole foods, good produce and fueling your body the right way. That’s where our epic band of traders come in.

LOCKED-DOWN & THRIVING: CARDIFF FOODIES WHO ARE MAKING WAVES

2020-2021, It has been an incredibly difficult period, especially for our beloved hospitality industry. It has been a time that has been used by many (rightly so!) to rest and recuperate. Yet some have managed to adjust, using creativity and imagination to branch into new ventures, such as at home fine dining kits from upmarket independents on the rise, as well as takeaway options as a service from establishments that would not have been an option prior to the pandemic. With my food blog, (Clemmie Eats), I have been immersing myself in new foodie businesses in Wales that have taken the risk to open up and explore new ventures, despite the circumstances. Cardiff is known as a vibrant, friendly and supportive city, and it is easy to see why. Despite the darkness of the last year, there have been so many fantastic new foodies who have taken this as an opportunity to kick start their passion of food in a different avenue, and spoiler - they are absolutely smashing it.

If you’re based in Cardiff and looking for some food inspiration of a couple of new unique independents to support, look no further.

Million Dollar Gravy

Ask any British person what one of their weekend routines are, and 99% of the time a Sunday roast will be on the agenda. Enter Million Dollar Gravy, the outrageous, delicious and completely mind blowing concept that was started at the end of January, arguably the bleakest time of the pandemic.  The team here creates a slap up restaurant standard three course roast, delivered to your door! What's brilliant about it is the fact that this Cardiff independent specialises in making delicious roasts, meaning the standard is just fab with generous portion sizes as well as catering to the vegan and vegetarian market. It takes away all the faff and clean up, making it an enjoyable and stress free Sunday (just what everyone wants right?!)

Berry & Co

After I tried Berry & Co, I (and my family) couldn't get it out of our minds. The concept is simple: boutique chocolate covered goodies, ranging from juicy strawberries covered in customised toppings ranging from Lotus Biscoff (my absolute fav!) to Ferrero Rocher, as well as chocolate pretzels with iridescent glitter toppings.  They are super pretty, boujee and delicious! The business was born in July of last year, and it has thrived throughout lockdown.  Bespoke boxes can be made for occasions such as birthdays and the upcoming Mothers Day. There are treats for everyone, and they are delivered straight to your door. The Valentine's boxes sold out, so get your orders in quick!

The Tispy Kitchen

Put down that supermarket ready meal and try The Tipsy Kitchen! This amazing venture was set up in lockdown by a woman who just wanted to cook fresh, quick and healthy food. The slogan ‘save time, enjoy your wine and let us do the cooking’ perfectly explains the mentality behind this Cardiff based family business. As well as classic home comforts, they also offer the ‘healthy shelf’, nutritionally tracked macro friendly recipes, and with a subscription service, it takes the hassle out of dinner planning stress. They deliver to Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan and RCT, so next time you're reaching for that ready meal, give them a bell!

Oh My Shakes

Nestled a stone throw from Roath Park Lake on Clearwater Parade lies one of Cardiff's most unique and delicious gems. Started in lockdown, Oh My Shakes creates the dreamiest and most Instagram worthy milkshakes I've ever seen. From cereal to Easter egg milkshakes, any request you have the chances are that Skye at OMS will be able to make it for you. They also offer vegan and dairy free alternates, so it’s perfect if you have any intolerances but still want a naughty treat! They are located in the indie superstore, simply dm to book a socially distanced collection for shakes and you’re good to go! They also are on UberEats on the weekends, so no excuses not to try these incredible shakes.

As a UK-wide street food events brand, we love working with traders from all walks of life on every corner of the UK. However... we're also Cardiff through and though, and LOVE to wave our Welsh flag and support the local businesses that are on our doorstep. We've delved into which local traders are still able to work through lockdown and the new traders on the block. Based in Cardiff and looking for a new foodie experience? Look no further, take this as your official guide to the Cardiff street food scene.

NEW TRADERS ON THE BLOCK

There’s nothing we love more than discovering new, epic street food traders in our locality. Throughout the pandemic, it has brought more and more street food to Cardiff. With working from and furlough contuing, people are finding themselves with more time on their hands than ever before and are turning their passions into local businesses.

Dough DOJO

One after our own hearts, a member of Street Food Warehouse event staff has only gone and set up a Napoli style, artisan vegan pizza biz straight from his kitchen! Taking orders for Saturday evenings only over on Dough DOJO’s Instagram, let’s go and show Joe some Cardiff love!

Sandwich HEROS. Having only just launched last weekend, we already know these guys will be an epic addition to the Cardiff street food scene. Hero Cubano is currently open for collection on Saturdays from the Grangetown area. Offering up range of mouth-watering Cuban pork sandwiches and grilled cheeses, what more of a treat could you want on a wintery Saturday afternoon?!

Wing Stack

'Home of the Wings'... bringing us incredible fried chicken with vegan and veggie alternatives (Broccoli tenders are now a thing and look INSANE). The success of Wing Stack's street food unit at Corporation Yard last year allowed them to open up shop at Clearwater Parade, Roath just before Christmas 2020! Despite yet being able to open up as a restaurant, these guys are thriving in Cardiff with their collection options.

They now deliver their Ramen kits across the UK.

Matsudai Ramen

Case Study: The Parking Lot Social Winter Festivals

Last December, Street Food Warehouse had the incredibly exciting opportunity of working with XL Event Lab on a series of drive-in events... The Parking Lot Social Winter Festivals, which took place over the festive period across the UK. XL Event lab, an epic events company that work on a global scale, reinvented the outdoor event game with the concept of a ‘parking lot social’ to provide the public with an alternative event throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. When Christmas came and restrictions were once again tightened, they decided to re-boot their events with a festive twist. With XL Event Lab wanting to simulate a Christmas food market, Street Food Warehouse were brought in to do what we do best, provide first class street food.

Street Food

The Parking Lot Social Winter Festivals took place in numerous location across the UK and saw customers drive in to a transformed car park venue for Christmas film watching, live pantos, take part in a games evening (The Parking LOL… need we say more) or experience a comedy night from the comfort of their cars. The street food traders provided by us served up a storm with hot food delivered straight to the cars.

With 7 Parking Lot Social events to sort out, we reached out to our trusted database with the opportunity and quickly saw the applications flood in. After almost a year of the coronavirus pandemic, traders were understandably apprehensive about new events but after taking a peek at the sales figures, we were over-run with interested traders. The first two events taking place in London and Manchester got off to a great start and were incredibly busy with traders selling out on the first day and having to restock numerous times throughout the event!

Parking Lot Social

A few encounters were hit along the way, but the whole point of using a specialist street food supplier (Street Food Warehouse) is to make these hurdles much easier to approach. The first of the event series kicked off in London, where due to the high demand, one of our traders was overrun with orders. Street Food Warehouse came to the rescue and found an additional trader within one day, not just any trader... enter Seawise Catering! We were able to onboard them and quickly secure their attendance for the next day, where they absolutely smashed it, so much so that they were invited back to trade at every event!

One key issue was traders being reluctant to take on the ‘risk’ of an unknown event during such a turbulent year. We used our expertise and knowledge of the industry to help illustrate to traders that it would be absolutely worth their while. We collated sales information, figures on previous traders sales and spoke individually to traders to address and reassure any concerns. What this meant was that we were able to secure only the best traders for the events who could truly cope with the demand of sold out drive in events where hundreds of orders come in within minutes of cars arriving.

A number of events were selling even better than expected, extremely close to event day, we were able to quickly source additional traders for these events, meaning that neither the existing traders nor the client were left overstretched. Even with these last minute changes, we ensured all traders were up to the usual standard of Street Food Warehouse. We support both client and trader prior, during and post event to ensure everything runs smoothly. Being available during events allows us to efficiently resolve any issues on all ends.

All in all, the events were an incredible success. Customers thoroughly enjoyed themselves in a safe way and our traders danced out having made huge profits that they couldn’t believe possible during COVID-19. Happy client, happy traders... happy Street Food Warehouse!

Testimonials

“Working with the Parking Lot Social & Street Food Warehouse has been an absolute pleasure! Great people, who really care about supporting independent street food traders and know how to plan a stress free event. Footfall levels were high and in line with quoted numbers, meaning that we sold all our stock and met our predicted turnover and profit margins. After a difficult year’s trading owing to covid 19, this opportunity really helped to turn around a loss making year, whilst simultaneously taking our brand to new audiences around the country. Thanks Mel and the team for a hugely profitable and successful event.” - Knowing Meat Knowing You, London based street food trader.

“It's been great working with Street Food Warehouse.  Everyone has been extremely attentive and on the case which certainly makes it much easier on our end.  There have been a few last minute changes and i'm aware that this is frustrating and takes extra effort from your guys, however they have been resolved without fuss so thanks for being so attentive.” - Chief Operations Officer, XL Event Lab

“We joined street food warehouse in 2020 and went for a couple of the events, which turned out to be really great events. Especially with the pandemic going on there was not a lot available, so we went for Covid safe events that they provided. They guided us every step of the way and gave us some brilliant advice to grow our business. We are very grateful and most definitely do some more great events with them over the coming years.” - Lekker Eat Dutch, Manchester Based Trader
