The Welsh Street Food Awards are Back!

Last week we confirmed that Street Food Warehouse will again be teaming up with The British Street Food Awards to hold the Welsh leg of the prestigious competition. Last year’s event was held in Milford Haven and saw 16 Wales based traders battle it out to win the public and judges votes to win the opportunity to represent Wales in the London finals. It was an amazing 2 days of delicious street food and drinks on the lovely Milford Waterfront, and we are very excited to be able to confirm that we will be bringing all this foodie fun to Swansea for 2019.

2018 saw the first ever Welsh Street Food Awards take place in Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire. The best Welsh traders rolled in, from Spicers Meat Wagon with their famous low and slow BBQ offerings to Early Bird Bakery with their delightful doughnuts, to sensational seafood from Assembelly. The weather wasn’t as sunny as we had all hoped but despite some miserable weather, the people of Pembrokeshire, as always, didn’t let us down and a great weekend was had all round.

The Winners

The food was of an incredible standard, but after much deliberation it was announced by Richard Johnson of The British Street Food Awards that the winner of the Judge’s Choice was Slow Pig and Assembelly won the Public Choice – both to go on to represent Wales and compete in the London Finals later in the year.

So what can you expect for 2019?

This year is going to be massive. We will be rolling into Swansea, Museum Park, the location where we hold Swansea Street Food Festival, with all the best Welsh vendors, all ready to show off their food and fight for their place in the London finals. It will be the same format as all our festivals and what we do best, mouth-watering street food in the sun.

There will be two winners. The first winner will be decided by YOU. Everyone who attends will get a vote to have your say about which vendor deserves to win a British Street Food Award. Of course you will have to make sure you try everyone’s food to make this all important decision…..there are worse problems to have! The second winner will be decided by the judging panel, who will be presented a single dish by each vendor. The judging panel will comprise of Richard Johnson of The British Street Food Awards and two celebrity judges, yet to be announced.

We are very excited to be working with The British Street Food Awards again, and showcasing the best of Wales based traders, because let’s face it, there is some AMAZING street food on offer and we think that needs shouting about!
