The 5 Exciting New Restaurants Coming to Cardiff in 2019

2019 is set to be an exciting year in the Welsh capital, most significantly for all things food. Here at Street Food Warehouse we are very much looking forward to seeing some new eateries pop up and trying some delicious food….

Juniper Place

A restaurant that has become infamous in Swansea for tasty food and a great atmosphere, Juniper Place is set to open on the former site of Seafood Shack. The Swansea branch of this relaxed and popular restaurant is opposite the site for Swansea Street Food Festival, so we know it VERY well and we can highly recommend (especially the Arlington Eggs!). The new Cardiff branch will be a gin lounge with a chilled out dining area serving breakfast, tapas style light dishes, lunch, dinner, afternoon tea and Sunday lunches. We think this is a great addition to St Mary Street and will be sure to be booking one of the first tables!

This new Vietnamese restaurant will be opening at the previous site of Atma the vegan cafĂ© in Cardiff City Centre. Founded by husband and wife duo, Stephen and Juliette Wall, whose travels around the world have led them to fall in love with Vietnamese Street Food, this is set to be a firm favourite of ours. The restaurant takes it’s name from the Vietnamese national dish of rice noodle soup, and if the food is as good as it promises to be we are in for a treat. Vietnamese Street Food is always a winner at our events; our vendor CapHe Republic were sold out in just hours at Sussex Street Food Festival in 2018. It is certainly a trend that is taking off, and we can’t wait to have this restaurant just down the road.

Honest Burgers

One of London’s best-loved burger joints is to FINALLY set to open in the Welsh capital. Honest Burgers has over 20 restaurants across London and will be coming to Cardiff’s Church Street in time for summer 2019. Running in the English capital since 2011 by Philip Eeles and Tom Barton who claim they make the best patties in the UK from 35 day dry aged British chuck steak with a variety of cheese, mustard, pickles, bacon, chimichurri, chorizo, malbec onions and shallot mayo, our mouths are already watering.

Cosy Club #2

Already a firm favourite in Cardiff City Centre, Cosy Club will be opening another branch in Cardiff Bay. Again tipped to open for summer 2019 and popping up where Strada used to be this will be all your favourite things about Cosy Club as it is but by the waterside. They have said that the new restaurant will encapsulate everything from everyone’s favourite breakfasts to family lunches to a night out with the girls. Sounds like a great destination for the summer months to us!

Not to be confused with the Cathays favourite Mowglis, the popular Indian restaurant Mowgli will be serving authentic Indian Street Food specialising in vegan food. Already a hit in Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool, this new restaurant is set to open on Cardiff Church Street in spring 2019. The menu looks amazing and will feature Indian Street Food classics inspired by a host of family favourite recipes. This is one to watch…

We might need a few new notches on our belts this year!
